Hultgren Named MIAA Assistant Commissioner

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Renee Hultgren will join the MIAA as the Assistant Commissioner for Compliance and Internal Operations and Senior Woman Administrator, the conference office announced Tuesday. Hultgren will begin her duties on Jan. 3, 2011.

Hultgren graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Journalism degree before receiving a Master's in Sports Administration from Wichita State University.

After graduate school, Hultgren landed at the University of Florida as a Promotions Assistant for the school's Athletic Association. At Florida, she coordinated game day promotions and sports marketing.

After her time at Florida, she served as the Director of Marketing and Promotions for the University of Northern Iowa's Athletic Department where she ran all athletic marketing, promotions and assisted with fundraising efforts.

Following this she spent seven years at the University of San Diego as the Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing and Promotions – directing all marketing, promotions, special events and ticket operations for the Athletic Department.

In 2004, she accepted a position with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) as a championships event administrator where she ran four national championships, supervised committees and coaches associations and was involved in policy, procedure and event development.

In 2007, Hultgren joined the staff at the De Soto School District as the Community Relations and Volunteer Coordinator.

In her spare time, Hultgren likes to stay active in sports, enjoys running and exercising and is involved in her church. Hultgren and husband, Dave reside in Shawnee, Kan.
